Today when I was at work, and the moment I walked into my department, I was forced to restrain myself from laughter as I watched my ADULT bosses dressed up as a gangster chick, and a pumpkin respectively. I was like, WTF!
God, this whole Halloween thing is for KIDs. And I can bet every kid, in their subconsciousness has wondered to some degree or another what is the whole purpose of this Halloween thing...but nobody dares to say anything because they do not want to feel, "left out." Well, I can understand that feeling. I was one of those kids who openly wondered to himself what the heck is the whole purpose of Halloween? To freeze your ass off just to get a few candy? Why bother?
Now, my real beef with Halloween is why the heck are ADULTs dressing up? If I ever saw my mom dress up for Halloween I would burst out laughing my ass off in my room. Because in all honestly, Halloween is for chlidren - those immature, pre-puberty level girls and boys who don't know better. Besides, why should I "tolerate" something I see as a shame on Western society? I mean, in the abstract I probably tolerate and accept Halloween for what it is. But to ask me to participate in it is just out of the question for me. I do not have to. There is no law that says anyone ever has to be a part of the childish fun and "activity."
Why should I give myself to the collective spirit of meaningless candy giving when I know I have better things to do? To me, in my opinion, Halloween is one of those really creepy corporate gifts to children (and adults alike) to celebrate being slaves to Satan and or Lucifer.
Good Lucifer right?
Or....more subtly..."Good Luc[ifer]k!"

Am I being too independent, a jackass, or do I have a degree of truth in this entry about the hollowness and meaningless "celebration" of Halloween? Am I bigotted in my disdain at this "traditional Western" activity?
Thanks
